High five, big man.

The luck we have had in the past few days has been beyond crazy! Since my last blog entry we have also begun our Going Glocal program thus our days have been jam packed with visits like, tours, meetings and most importantly meeting the Young Achievers here in Namibia. More on that tomorrow as I'm going to try to keep some sort of chronological order going on here....

SUNDAY 6TH - GOD HAS OUR BACK
Today we left Keetmanshoop in the early hours of the morning (read: 8am) with destination Windhoek. The road from A to B consisted mainly of desert with the odd mountain here and there. With 140km to go until the next town we realized we'd jetted out of Keetmanshoop without refuelling (pretty sure being busy belting out Destiny's Child whilst passing the petrol station had nothing to do with it). We had a map with us that indicated two petrol stations before arriving in Mariental so there wasn't too much panic. We passed the first village, no petrol station. We arrived at the next one, no petrol station. Now we were empty, stranded and the center of attention as three white girls in our huge car having the slightest of panic attacks whilst we planned our next move. Then God gave us our first high five and led us to Herry and his amazing family winkel where he sold us his personal petrol stash, refuelled our car, taught us some Xhosa, sold us some snacks and sent us on our merry and beyond grateful way. Just because that wasn't lucky enough a few hours later we were stopped for speeding (hi dad! Only 15km over, promise!) and managed to panic and pity our way out of it by pretending to scrape our last pennies together whilst using every witty bone in my body to charm/guilttrip us to freedom. Needless to say, we arrived at the cardboard box hostel in Windhoek with a new found faith.

MONDAY 7TH - THE LUCK CONTINUES

The evening of the 7th the rest of the class was due to also check in at the Cardboard Box and a large group of them appeared around breakfast time. We adopted two (Tsjalline & Taco) and set out to enjoy our last day with the massive car. We spent the morning/afternoon hiking at Daan Vijlon Nature Reserve where we saw zebras, springbok, kudus & apes.

The returning of the car is yet another adventure which exceeds blog material quality so please approach either myself, Marike or Lola if you're intrigued as to why, following these last 48 hours, we'll be attended church from now on.

We all went out for dinner in the evening and toasted to the beginning of our Going Glocal adventure... As I write this we're two days in and currently in a minibus on our way up to Waterberg Park. As I don't want to make these posts all too long I'm going to start my going glocal part of this blog tomorrow!

Missing you all, Tiger Laylay xo
